Skills Development Fund
Agri-Impact Consult has been awarded a grant by the Skills Development Fund (COTVET-PSU) to leverage the capacity of a packhouse put up by the African Development Bank under the Export Marketing and Quality Awareness Project. The grant is to assist Agri-Impact Consult to transfer easy to use technologies, ensure year round production of high-yielding and high quality produce to 200 smallholder vegetable producers around the Afadjato-Dayi Enclave. Additionally, 100 teachers/trainers from tertiary institutions andAgric training colleges and 100 Aggregators will also be trained.
The overall goal of this project is to raise a cadre of young agri-enterprises highly equipped with the requisite vocational skills to exploit employment opportunities in agricultural value chains.The project intends to increase production and productivity of producers in Dayi-Afadjato enclave to optimize utilization of the 30 tons holding packhouse capacity.
Specific objectives are to:
1. Build technical capacities of 100 Aggregators to supply high quality fresh vegetables for high end market
2. Train 300 agri-entrepreneurs/producers in the use of modern production and processing technologies such as protected cultivation, intensive production, product handling and packhouse management.
3. Build capacities of 100 technical staff of tertiary/vocational institutes; the Ministry of Food Agriculture and other support service agencies in modern production technologies including protected and shade net cultivation.
4. Establish an agri-preneur training centre to develop demand-driven vocational curricula; provide theoretical training and hands-on experience to youth/women in produce business development services, produce mobilizing, horticulture production, marketing and distribution of agricultural produce.
